The P2 Project facilitates constructive dialogue between climate scientists and pension funds on climate change. The goal of the project from this communication is to encourage pension funds to take the following actions:

  • Incorporate climate change into pension fund investment policies and practices;
  • Work with climate scientists and other climate change experts to ensure that pension funds are incorporating the most accurate climate science into investment analyses;
  • Review the risk to whole portfolios in light of climate change;
  • Take action, individually and with other funds, to incentivize their investment supply chains (i.e. investment advisers, fund managers, sell side research houses, etc) to deal properly with this not-yet-immediate and macro-prudential risk;
  • Allocate capital to low-carbon opportunities such as renewable energy, energy efficient buildings and clean technology products; and
  • Join together to successfully press governments to take the steps required to avert catastrophic climate change.
